Twit This -- A Bit About Twitter
47An April 2009 Update About Twitter
Since the time we created this Hub last year, Twitter has exploded with users. Last fall they counted 2 million users - in just March of 2009, they had 14 million. Projections say that number will rise to 50 million by the end of 2009.

Twitter here, Twitter there,
Twitter, Twitter everywhere!
By now you probably know that Twitter is the leader in the emerging "lifestreamer" segment...some call it microblogging. It's a way to let people know what you're doing at any given point in time, in 140 characters or less....so you don't have to call or IM or email etc. You might also want to try a competing platform called Plurk, they display your message a little differently.
It's easy to set up an account and start Twittering -- my grandmother is 93 years old and she follows my comings and goings on the Twitter account I showed her how to set up, how cool is that!!
I posted a couple of screen caps below -- the first is the registration page and the second is how to get started after you registered. Pretty simple really. They don't require an email confirmation like many do so you can start tweeting fast!
Once you get started, you'll want to add followers to your network fast. One of the best tools I've come across is a program called Brute Force Twitter - using these tools, one guy added more than 70,000 followers in about 11 weeks time.

I really, really, really don't like Twitter.
But I use it, because it gets a lot of 'pres' lately and every good marketer should be using the most popular tools to reach the most popular people.
It's not the app I don't like...it's the inane "Tweets" that most people share. This is why I altogether got away from MySpace.
Maybe I'm over critical. Find me on Twitter (Defmall) and we can follow each other!
